The Salavan Downstream Hydropower Project is a planned barrage dam on the Mekong River along the Laos–Thailand border, with an installed capacity of 2,448 MW, projected annual electricity generation of over 9,480 GWh, a surface area of 196 km² and a reservoir capacity of 2.05 billion cubic metres of water (2,050 million m³). These generation figures imply an average power output of approximately 1,082 MW and a 44.2% capacity factor. The project aims to supply electricity to four countries—Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia and support thousands of direct and indirect jobs during construction and operation.
